The company was established in January 1980 by Kåre Joa Ravndal, who still runs the company together with his wife Helga. Kåre and Helga are approaching retirement age and after lengthy negotiations have decided to sell the company to SR Group AS.
SR Group AS was established in 1983 and is owned by SRG Holding AS, which is the holding company for the transport and logistics companies in the SRG Group. SRG Holding is owned by the founder Bjørn Røstad through Røsi AS, Inro AS and Stangelandgruppen. Some 20 employees also have shares in the Group.
SR Group will continue to operate Maksi in the same guise and with the same employees as before. The Maksi Terminal at Sola is also included in the transaction.
The takeover will not entail any changes for Maksi's customers and partners. Kåre and Helga will also contribute to the company in a transitional phase.
SR Group and Maksi have co-operated to varying degrees for a number of years and the companies know each other well.

Maksi has 43 employees and operates several distribution routes in Rogaland and also provides local and national transport for customers. In addition, Maksi has a trailer several times a week to and from Gardermoen. The company has an office, terminal and warehouse in Flyplassvegen in Sola.
SR Group AS has 145 employees (just over 300 in the Group) with a presence in Tananger, Bergen, Mongstad, Kristiansund, Alta, Gardermoen and Vestby. The head office is located in Energivegen in Risavika. The company is engaged in transport - mainly locally and along the coast. In addition, the company has a department that transports fish from facilities in Western Norway to Oslo/Gardermoen. There is also a forwarding department that handles customers' logistics needs globally. SR Group also has extensive warehousing and terminal operations at its locations.
The sales agreement was signed on Friday 16 December and the takeover will formally take place on 1 January 2023.
